This training is for folk who find themselves navigating complicated, messy conflicts in densely entangled communities. By ‘entangled’, we mean communities in which work, housing, organising, friendship, dating and other dynamics overlap across fluid and evolving groups of people.

We’ll add more information about the venue soon. Please let us know about any access requests when registering.
We will use a mixture of written and verbal content, and share resources and notes in written form after the sessions. We can share some content beforehand on request.

There’s a limited number of beds available inside for those who need them, including shared and twin rooms. For those who aren’t keen to sleep outside but don’t necessarily need a bed, there will be space to put a camping mattress down in the common areas for the night. We can help you find gear (tent, mattress, sleeping bag) if useful — just let us know your sleeping requirements when you’re filling out the application form and we’ll see what we can do.

Because this residential training has limited capacity, we’re asking folk to complete a short application form. We’re keen to have a wide range of perspectives from across Scotland in the room, so that’s the main thing we’ll be looking out for if we have more applications than spots. If we have too many people from a particular area we will use random selection to offer places. We may run a waitlist or repeat this training at a later date if we have much more interest than capacity.
To apply, please complete the registration form linked below by Friday 24th July. You will hear from us whether you have been offered a place by Friday 31st July.
If you’re not able to come because of unforeseen circumstances, we ask that you find someone to take your place. If that’s not possible, we offer a full refund up to a week in advance, a partial refund up to 3 days and no refund less than 3 days/72hrs before the start of the training, unless you can’t come because of illness.
Tripod’s trainings are inspired by direct education methodologies and based in our intersectional values. We bring a trauma-informed approach to conflict. Our work focuses on creating space for personal, collective and systemic transformation. We are committed to experiential education, which means that we’ll be learning by doing and that we’ll centre the experiences and knowledge already in the room. You’ll have plenty of opportunities for practice and feedback, and to address specific questions and challenges you’re bringing.
In this conflict training, we’ll be sharing insights and tools inspired by the work of Navigate Cooperative, Miki Kashtan, Kai Cheng Thom, Cradle Collective, Betty Martin, Resist + Renew, adrienne maree brown and others.
Tripod builds the power of social movements tackling the root causes of injustice in Scotland and beyond. As a collective of facilitators and educators, we connect people and develop skills to embody the liberated futures we’re fighting for. We seed active solidarity and strengthen strategic collaboration within and across movements. We offer training, meeting facilitation and conflict mediation to support groups to work in better alignment with their visions and values. We are a worker-led, not-for-profit coop, and have been embedded in movements since 2008.
For more info about our approaches and other work, have a look around our website. Our 2025-2030 strategy focuses on building intersectional movements, and increasing the capacity to better navigate conflict within and across groups.
